A quick update... Because of the insanely high cost I encountered for having two 16-foot 3/8" 3,000 lb hoses made up for my FEL grapple, I decided to make my temporary "bungie cord" arrangement permanent. I did this by purchasing two $10.00 90-degree elbows in order to "stretch" my 14-foot, half-inch (TSC off-the-shelf) utility hoses just enough to reach the front of the tractor with acceptable routing. I am still routing on the left side. I've also given up on finding a "stock-looking" bulkhead bracket for the front of the FEL and will be using cheap and locally-available plastic hydraulic hose clamps to secure the front couplings. While not super-professional looking, and hoses a bit oversized for the task at hand, it will save me a bundle that I can spend elsewhere until I win that big lottery.

For Galen and 3510/4110 owners: The second hydraulic valve kit turned out to be a bundle of trouble... in large part due to a lack of any installation instructions... but thankfully that portion of my grapple project is now well on its way to resolution thanks to the good folks at MahindraUSA. To make a long story short, the kit was shipped with a short-style lever linkage and valve with front exiting stem. My original valve is long-style lever linkage and valve with rear exiting stem. For several reasons, you really don't want "mix & match" configurations on one tractor. :(

But it turns out that the valve stem is user reversible! Who knew? :D So in the end, all I really needed was the correct (matching/compatible) long-style lever linkage. MUSA shipped it to me at no charge and it arrived on Friday. BIG THANKS to the folks at MUSA. :)

Other less critical installation issues have all been addressed by MUSA and the good folks down at New England Tractor... plus my own mechanical engineer's ingenuity! :) As soon as the rain stops here and I can drop the BH and remove the seat again, I will finally have my second rear remote set installed and working... EXTREMELY COOL!!!

Dougster, Surplus Center - Hydraulic Equipment Electric Motors has excellent hyd hoses. Stock 4000psi 3/8 15' hoses w JIC 6 or 8 fittings are about $36 ea. NPT fitted hoses are less. Would 15' do it?

16'-3" (+/-2") with 1/2" male NPTF for couplings I have would have been ideal... but 15'-0" would certainly work now with my new elbows. :) In retrospect, I should have figured in the use of elbows all along.

Funny, but I checked online and found nothing but confusion and high shipping charges... and no "pre-cut" specials anywhere close... so that prompted me to just have them made up locally. Want the prices I found? Brace yourself...

Nearest hydraulic's shop: Over $75.00 per hose!
High end of range: $102.00 per hose!!!
Low end of range (best price, but questionable "going out of the business" source): $54.00 per hose.

Now you know why I spent $20 for two elbows and decided to go back to my "TSC Special"
