There have been a few threads comparing the pros and cons of lending a helping hand with tractors/equipment. General consensus seems to be we're glad to help unless we feel like we're taken for granted or otherwise being taken advantage of.

I usually plow my neighbor's drive when I do my own; not because he can't afford to hire it done, but because I like to be a good neighbor (and enjoy the seat time). He's always appreciative and I turn down his offers to pay, but the past two times he's "compensated" me nicely. With Cuban cigars! Last time it was Cohibas, really nice Cubans. Last night he came out and handed me a couple of these. Not Cohibas, but Cubans and a really nice thank you!

Some nice seat time, satisfaction of having helped a neighbor, and the smell of Cuban cigar smoke wafting in the air...a nice evening.

Agreed. A good neighbor. I mentioned once before that I especially appreciate having three contiguous neighbors who are excellent. We're not necessarily buddies, but we all get along well, respect each other, and watch out or each other. Our houses are on 1 acre+ lots so there's a healthy distance between us. :) I've lived there 20 years and I'm still the "new guy."

Where does your neighbor get them from? I used to sneak a few cohibas across the border now and then before it got too bad down in Mexico. Last year I was in the duty free section of the airport and wanted to buy a case, but I wasn't sure if I could bring them through customs.
You have a very good neighbor.

It's nice to hear that there are still 'hand shake and a good trade' relationships that exist. It creates a real sense of community that's is easily lost in this day and age.

My next door neighbor (my older brother) and I usually exchange Four Roses and Rare Breed bourbon back in forth for favors done. Nice to sit down after a good work day and have a neat drink.

I believe the most recent ones came from the Dominican Republic where he recently vacationed.

I visited Cuba about 10 years ago and was pleased to learn that US Customs would allow up to two boxes of Cuban cigars. Bought two boxes of Cohibas and was pretty popular until they were gone! (Yes, gave some to my neighbor.) Not sure whether that would work with cigars purchased in Mexico or not.
