I have been keeping the tractor under the front of my shop and it is always in the way, so I knew I needed a tractor shed. Vickie has been wanting an old building like an old store or a saloon so she could decorate it to fit our place so I killed 2 birds with one stone.
I made it by laminating some ground treated 2x4's together, one at 4ft then 6 ft, then one 5ft. They are much easier to handle and plumb and square than 14' 4 x 6's. The building is 16' wide by 24' long. The front has a door and 2 windows that lead into an 8' x 16' room that will be storage for home remodling parts that are always left over on a job that currently take up space in my shop. I started looking last week and I have 11 galons of paint in 1 gal cans and 3 5 gal cans of paint, a box of new door knobs some trim moulding, sheetrock dope and tape ect.
Now I will have a place for that stuff and can keep the tractor and mower out from my shop. I thought you would like some pics of it. Here is the front which is seen from my front porch, Later, Nat

Nat,

Very nice. It looks like it came from an old west town somewhere!!!

Did you use cedars for you colums? or is it a different type of wood?

Are you gonna put anthing on the wood to keep the color, or are you wanting it to weather and turn grey? Either way, it would look real nice.

Thanks for sharing, I like it ALLOT!!!!!

Very appealing structure. It has no resemblance to the mass produced cookie-cutter structures you see everywhere, and that makes it a pleasure to see rather than just another shed.

I do think it needs a sign of some sort. Saloon, General store, blacksmith, something like that.

Thanks for the coments guys. It's nice to have someone appreciate something you have done.
I made the frame from construction lumber but the siding is the same Cedar that is on the house. BTW Eddie Vickie made me steal you porch post design. She has wanted me to do some like that since she saw yours. I told her I could have cut off a 4 x 4 in 2 minutes, but instead spent 2 hours peeling them blame cedar logs. It made her happy and to me that is the most important thing.
Here is a look in the tractor shed

You can see that I havn't finnished the wall between the shed and the storage room in that last pic. Here is how I framed the walls and roof. A fter planting the laminated ground contact part of the post I leveled all the way around, man, a lazer transit sure is a nice tool to have. I measured up from the level line to the top of each piece of the laminated post and subtracted that from 10'6" so I knew how long to cut the 2x4's that made up the post. I then ran a tripled 2x10 around on the top of the post flush with the outside. I fabbed up the trusses in the shop on a 4 x 10 table and stacked them up on the truck. I backed the truck into the shed and sat one end od the truss on the triple 2 x 10's and carried the other end up a step ladder. It only took 1 day to fab the trusses and install them and the skip sheating. I ran 2 x 4's around between the post to hang the siding on. Here is a pic from the inside to show the framing.
