Hi guys my new 1710 was delivered today just in time for another snow storm. 1st issue is the shear bolts on the fan, I went through 3 of them already, when I engage the blower pto is starts with a heck of a bang I tried to minimize it by throttling down, *which brings up the second issue*, the throttle cable was progressively freezing up and not allowing it to return to idle, therefore the pto started engaging at full throttle. Dealer is coming to replace the cable on Friday but said that being at high revs shouldnt be causing the fan to snap its shear bolt. However having said all that I just love this thing! Its amazing!

Hadn’t heard of the fan bolt issue before, but my throttle sucks when it is cold, sometimes prevents me from throttling down. Love my tractor and the stuck cold throttle is my only complaint in 250 hours.

At what temp do you see the throttle cable problem? Never experienced that but it probably isn't nearly as cold here.

-8c /17.6f at noon and dropping , it started at +1c & dropped all day along with whiteouts, it was a bad day for weather, supposed to be -20c by Thursday morning.

Check the shear pin for the fan (auger pins, too)-- they often get over-torqued, which will help them break off quickly/easily. When installing, only tighten just enough to get the lock washer to compress, no more. Going beyond that pre-loads the bolt.

Engaging the PTO "with a bang" is normal in my experience, but yes, try to do that at idle RPM. MMM PTO starts up the same, with a bang. Scary the first few times.

Usually in the teens or lower (Fahrenheit). You can rev up just not down (I lift the hood to idle it down). I’ll probably fix it this winter if it does it again, I let it act up the first winter just thinking it needs worn in a bit more.

Haven't seen the teens for many decades now. :grumpy:

It doesn't get that cold here. If it did, I would turn into a computer junkie. :D

"It doesn't get that cold here." Yeah, right, he says... while we're dealing with the second day of near or below zero temps (that's degrees F!) here in the great Northeast... Temps that low are getting less thrilling to deal with every year.

Getting closer, every year, to just saying "--%$#$@# --" (well, you get the idea) and loading up our RV and joining the hordes in Quartzite (OK, maybe not that) --or someplace quiet AND WARM in NV, CA or AZ-- and leaving the ice & snow --and the tractor-- to my kids...
