My TC40D has a few issues I would like to hear feedback about. I have about 700 hours on it. Bought it new 2 years ago.
First, it seems down on engine power. Climbing grades while carrying loads is a strain. Bogs motor down. Injector cleaning? How do you tune up a deisel???
17LA loader is down on lift power, also slowly droops but no oil leaks. Packing/seals? Should I have the primary hydraulic pump tested for pressure output?
3 point hitch droops and returns causing bouncing effect when loaded (ie. box blade lifted). Was told this could be just an adjustment?
Any Ideas?

Biker,
I am going to suggest the same thing that I aways do when an engine is down on power and the hydraulics are acting funny at the same time. Check all of your hydraulic quick connectors. Many a time, they will look connected and they won't be. This causes the hydraulic pump to be overworked and that makes the engine low on power and it causes problems with the hydraulic flow.

Biker515, it's hard to judge power without more info. Can you give us more info on engine rpm, gear range, and rabbit-turtle? If you are trying to climb a grade in hi-rabbit or a steep grade in hi-turtle, you may need to shift to lo range. I have actually found steep grades with a very full loader bucket that were a challenge for my tractor in lo-turtle. This is a very hard question to answer without having first-hand experience.

As far as the loader drooping when the tractor is shut off, I'd have to say that is normal. I have seen three Class III Boomers and they all do it. My 3PH holds solid, but the loader droops slowly.

Is your 3PH hiccupping when you just lift the boxblade off the ground or all the way up? If you raise the 3PH to the top, there is a lever that is supposed to stop it from going any higher. It's on the right side near where the rockshaft enters the transmission casing.

My 3PH used to come to the top and the engine would bog down slightly. I could tell the pressure relief was lifting. The adjustment was off. After adjustment, everything was fine. If your tractor is bobbing/hicupping in the middle of the 3PH travel, then you have a different problem, but if it's doing it at the top, then this might be your problem. If the 3PH is all the way to the top and the pressure relief is lifting, that will cause both the low power at the FEL and the engine bogging down problem. As Jerry said, all these things could be related.

The engine power loss is more gut feel than quantitative. I've been up and down the same gradual hills in my driveway for a couple of years now and I now have to shift to turtle and/or raise rpms where I didn't before. Difficult to measure however.
The FEL droops significantly faster than it used to, especially loaded. I guess it's to be expected but with the engine running and any weight at all on the forklift for instance, I have to readjust about every 30 seconds. I have used this quite a bit so I guess it's expected. I plan on changing the cylinder seals to try and fix it. Not sure how much servicing you can do on the actuator? I'll definitely check the hose attachments
I'll check on the 3PH problem. I'm not sure if it only when it's all the way up or not.
Thanks a lot for the inputs. I just now found this website. It's great. My dealers aren't the easiest to talk to about this stuff (usually because they don't know either, or won't tell me)

Most FELs will drop a bit especially after the engine is shut down. That said I do a lot of pallet work with our 40D and there has never been a need to constantly readjust the joystick while the New Holland is running and I'm moving heavily loaded pallets. If there was a case that it had to be adjusted every 30 seconds I would certainly look into making a repair.

How long has it been since you changed your fuel filter.. I'd check the air filter too. How's your hydralic fluid level?

Jim, you were right. The 3PH only bounces at full lift. Never noticed that. A little adjustment should fix it.
Kensfarm, it's been almost 100 hours on the fuel filter so thats probably a good idea to try. Air filter has been less than that and not much dust around here this winter but I'll check it. Fluid level is good.
Guess I'll get the seals for the 4 cylinders and replace them. Can't complain too much, sure do love my loader!!
Thanks
By the way, any place to get new loader pins a little cheaper than the dealer?
