The Dunkirk airport host a fly in breakfast once a year which is great when your daughter loves planes. This last Sunday was when they had it this year. I went with my parents and my daughter Ava who is almost 3. Well, we ended up taking a ride in a plane (it was a first for all of us). As soon as the pilot reved the engine Ava started yelling with excitement. It was a great experience but a short one as the rides were just into the air, circle around and land. However, I was able to get a nice picture of one of the properties I farm.

The first pic is my main hay farm. Everything in Red is what I currently farm there. The section in yellow is 40 acres that I have an agreement to buy. You can see the end of one of the runways of the airport in the top left.

The second picture is Ava as she was coming off of the plane.

After we left the airport we went to Midway Park in Maple Springs (it is a small amusement park on Chautauqua Lake) and let Ava play there until 6pm.

There was a lot of work I should have been doing on Sunday but I was glad I skipped it to spend the whole day with Ava:)

If you don't take the time to do fun things with those you love, the opportunities slip away...gone...zippo. Indeed you did have a great Sunday and the look on Ava's face is priceless. Her smile is just so bright it lights up the whole picture. It sure made me smile too.:)

...and your farm looks huge (and nice). Is that a lake in the background?...or?

Looks like a good time was had by all.

May go back to the airport at a less busy time, If there is an instruction place there, they usually offer "demo" flights at very reasonable prices. $59 comes to mind to me. Usually they are just covering the cost of gas, building flight time, and trying to gain your interest in becoming a pilot.

Some of my best memories are of getting to "fly the plane" as a kid. And my son Dean got the same when one of our close freind's took him up for a day.

I bet Ava will have those positive memories the rest of her life.

J.Walker, you are correct. Route 5 runs along the lake and Rt 20 is on the other side of the 90. Rt 39 is 2 miles further up the hill.

Jim, the water on top of the picture is Lake Erie. The ground in the red outline is around 80 acres.

Jimg, the oval is an old training track for horses pulling those 2 wheel carts the driver rode in. I can't remember what they are called but it doesn't really matter. I think it is a half mile but I can't remember but I do know this, when Ava is old enough she will have a great go cart track to race me on:D The inside of the oval is a new Timothy field I planted this spring.

Also, if you look at the picture of Ava coming off the plane you can see me in the back window with a big grin. More so because of Ava then anything else:)

AlanB, I plan on talking to some of the people at the airport later on. I want to go up and take some more pictures of rest of our farms as well as some friends farms. They do take people up and the only price I can remember was $140/hr if you were using their plane to learn to fly. I would think it would be less if you just wanted to go up to take pictures.
