Hi all, just a quick question. Is there a generic name for the implement that resymbles the "Dura-Grader"?

Looking to buy one and it would help if I knew exactly what it's called. I've seen "grader blade", "grader box" etc. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Little help for the rookie! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Thanks,
Steve

Are you looking for box blade? I guess I'm not sure what you're asking?

No, I know a box blade. There is an attachment simular to a box blade that is/can be used for road maintenance and general smoothing of yards and such. It doesn't have the scarifers like a box blade but a blade across the width that hangs below the main frame and is short so the gravel or dirt flows up and over it then is smoothened out with another one
Doing a google search for "dura-Grader" will show you what I'm referring to. The dura-grader has tall sidewalls and I've seen some behind other tractors that might be only 4" tall. I assuming it all depends on who makes it.

I have been inundated with ads for the DR Power Grader. This thing is new and I was going to start a post to ask if anyone has seen one of these work. It looks like what you are wanting and I am thinking about one to rework my drive. You might go to www.drpower.com and take a look.

Fishguy,

I have been looking into these types of graders, They are sold under the names Grademaster/RoadBoss/Duragrader and I have heard them called roll-over blade graders.

Montana Tractor sells a Roadboss brand painted Montana green: http://www.montanatractors.com/pages/12_roadboss.html

Beaver Valley Supply sells a simialr product called the Cimarron Dual Edge Grader http://www.beavervalleysupply.com/sectione/cimar.htm

as well as the Grademaster: http://www.beavervalleysupply.com/sectione/grademb.htm

I have also spoken with the Seal's from Duragrader, but there is too much baggage there for me to consider their product. (do a search for Duragrader and you will find the threads)

The problem with all of these is that if you do not live close, the shipping will eat you alive. For my uses, the 9/16 penetration of the new DR mentioned above will not even dent my 2 mile road. I really do need the weight (900 lbs) and blade toughness of these roll-over graders. The trouble is that I cannot find anyone in my neck o the wood that sells them.

I expect to pay 800 - 1200 for what I am looking for, but shipping quotes have been 450+

The Roadboss models are REAL spendy...4 figures starting in the high 2's

Post here if you find other information.

RFB,

I have found that "Howse" also makes them and they call them a "dual edge grader". Their prices don't appear too bad either. A fivefooter cost 688 and the shipping here is 275 which also includes shipping a 6' Finish Mower.
They're in Mississippi, so the shipping shouldn't be that far off to your area as I'm on the east coast. I would check them out. I think they got my vote!

"They're in Mississippi, so the shipping shouldn't be that far off to your area"

From Laurel MS to north east NC is about 800; from Laurel MS to me is about 2400, so I think the shipping will still kill it for me. Also, from what I have been told the Cimmarron blade sold by Beaver Valley is a Howse.

Just in appearance, (and that can be very deceiving) the Howse blade looks a little lighter weight in construction.
