Oil & Fuel A little motor oil in the tranny

I am doing the 50 hour service on my BX2230. I accidentally topped off the transmission fluid with about 1/4 of a quart of synthetic engine oil instead of super UDT fluid. I plan on leaving the engine oil in there. Is there any reason that I should not?

I sometimes use different hydraulic cylinders used by other tractors I have and my bobcat skid steer. A little of different oils get mixed together. It doesn't matter. Don't lose any sleep over it.

If you were to hook the tractor up to a friends wood splitter,dump trailer etc your oils and his oils would mix.Wouldnt even think about it.

He didn't mix different types of hydraulic fluid in there. He put engine oil in there. I'd guess its still no big deal. It will get diluted very quickly.

Thats nothing. I once poured about a pint of hydrochloric acid into my car engine. It was in a black plastic gallon container that looked exactly like an oil container. I'd had it outside to clean cement off some new stonework. Next day (half asleep) I went to top up the car oil and just grabbed the first black container I saw. It took me a few seconds of thinking "Gee this oil is thin" before I realised what was happening. A quick oil change followed. (The wife has never heard this story.)
