A little touch of my trade to the fish pond.

The city FD that I work for was selling old fire hydrants, and I thought it would complement the fish pond out in front of the house. After a day of stripping off 30-40 years of paint, I primed and repainted the old hydrant. Then I drilled a 1/2 hole in the "steamer cap" and T'ed off the discharge from the pond pump/filter and ran it through the cap. Lowe's had a e-cheapo underwater light that had a red filter on it and I have to say that it turned out pretty neat. This being a tractor site, I used the TC24DA to lift the hydrant into place....those suckers are pretty heavy!

Thanks for the replys. This was one of those spur of the moment projects that for once turned out halfway decent.

Jinman, I HOPE that the local FD figures out that they probably won't get much flow from that hydrant! Besides, as long as my family and I get out, they can let it go!

I see from your profile that we have a lot in common. I don't think that the hydrant would have quite the same effect down in my slough though.
I've been trying to get my hands on one for a while, our PW has at least 30 just across the street from our apron. They insist that they go to auction like everything else. They have five gallon buckets full of caps and bonnets and bases everywhere! Remember the old Johnny Cash song about the Cadillac? Someday when I'm over there fueling on a weekend....one piece at a time....unfortunately I know all to well just how heavy they are...I'll need a bigger lunch box and an accomplice!

Any comments about the stream?

That last picture gives a new meaning of the words "Fire Hydrant".
Only thing missing is a statue of a dog under the water stream. Kind of a hydrant's revenge.
As far as the FD hooking to it, they could probably suck the pond dry with the priming pump alone.

Overall I'd give it a "Nice, Very Nice" rating.
