Yesterday my wife and I attended the first annual Peanut Proud Expo in Blakely, GA. Blakely is/was the home to one of the two Peanut Corporation of America facilities. The greed of just a very few has thrown the whole peanut industry in a turmoil. A lot of good people have lost their jobs and, not knowing what the demand for peanuts will be, the farmers don't know how much to plant, if any. It is estimated that the acreage in peanuts will be 30% less this year.
We decided to attend the Expo, just for a little bit of morale support. Blakely is located a little over an hours drive west of us and it was a nice spring Saturday morning drive.
Ok, so much for the background.
The first picture is a 'pickup' powered by peanut biodiesel.
Second is a NICE size JD tractor with a 12 row peanut planter(in transport mode). Just for reference for the size, my wife is 6 foot 5 inches tall.
Oh, well, that's a lie, but that tractor is big.
Third, another bigun.
