Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Attached is a .pdf file Memorial Day story about someone special to me. I hope we never forget our troops, even those who had to embark on unpopular missions.

Cindi you might have what I suspected when you said you couldn't download from World Fence News.

You're Acrobat Reader challenged.

It's not a fatal malady, but it is a crippling one. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

You can down load Acrobat Reader for free. You will find there is a whole nother world out there. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

FLA Cracker,

On Memorial Day I always think of my grandfather. He was
in the USMC until he retired but of course he never left the
Corps. He was in the Marines prior to WWII, not much to do
where he grew up except farm and work in the coal mines.
Since he was too poor to have land he was left with the mines
so he joined up to became a Jar Head.

We have sent off to get his service records. The Old Man
supposedly earned a Navy Cross and bunch of other medals.
I only met him a couple times and he was an ornery old man.
/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif He could not say a short sentence without sprinkling
at least two or three major cuss words. According to family
lore he part of Nimitz's body guard detail during WWII. He
did the long walk up to Chosin and back. Or maybe part
way back. Somehere along the line he picked up a limp
thanks to the Communist Chinese.

I'm waiting to see his service record. I'm hoping we can get
it. We have a picture of all of his decorations as well as a
picture of him with Nimitz. We think he got the Navy Cross
in WWII though I had always thought it was in Korea. If he
earned a Navy Cross in WWII its going to be real interesting
Course its real interesting anyway you look at it. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Happy Memorial Day to our Service People.

cindi - does it seem to download the file? But then not be able to open it?

If so, sounds like your system doesn't have the proper file association set up. It is supposed to know that when you open a document with extension of .pdf, to use Adobe Acrobat Reader to open it.

Now it is possible to directly edit your file associations, but it is a pain to explain, so I suggest basically just reinstalling AAR.

If this matches so far, I'd (without knowing which OS you have I'll be a bit general) go to Start->Settings->Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs. Find Acrobat Reader in the list, and highlight and remove it.

Then go to the Adobe site and download the latest version of AAR. Install it. Lettuce pray /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

If none of this works at all try to remember that it was free advice /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

What happens is when I open it there's a wee little bitty square in the upper left hand corner with three little designs in it that if my eyesight was a little better I might be able to make out. Looks like a triangle and a circle and a square all different colors. Hope I didn't get too technical for ya'.

Hmmm... well I don't know what you are seeing.

If the wee square contained a _ , a square, and an X - I'd have an answer for ya. But different colors? Beats me.

Try hovering the mouse cursor over the border of the wee square and see if you get a "resize" cursor. If you do, drag the window bigger, maybe AR is hiding in there. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
