Ok - I own it! Pulled a real dork move and shattered the glass door on my 5093e cab. Had something to do with operating the tractor with the door open...
Moving on, pretty sure only the glass is broken, the handle, latch and hinges seem ok, so I'm looking for glass. I think I have the right number from the JD online parts system (R198624), but I see an A-R198624 that pops up when I google search, and of course it is cheaper. The JD system does not contain the A version.
Below is a search result that shows my problem (there are others, but this site illustrates the point the best):
Search results - GLOBALPARTSZONE.COM - GLOBALPARTSZONE.COM
There is the A-R198624 at $280, the JD part at $425, and the aftermarket at $322.
One other little piece of data (to add some confusion) can be found here:
https://www.tiredirontractorparts.com/tractor_parts/glass-door-lh-not-tinted-a-r198624.html
The description here says "Not Tinted". I know the common use today day is that tinted glass is a dark film added to cut light transmission by say 5% to 35% depending on how bling you are. But, I think tinting also refers to adding the green color during manufacture to glass that is common in vehicle glass I think it cuts glare and UV transmission. I'm old enough to remember cars that had windows that said "Tinted Glass" but they were more like a coke bottle than the bat mobile.
Last question - the weather strip ($135 or so) is fine, but, it seems difficult to get the glass out - perhaps an adhesive? Is this just a patience thing with a screwdriver or should I replace it too?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Raise a cup of your favorite beverage to the dork and give him a hand, please...
