Those of you who really live in the country know that we have to make our own entertainment. On the 4th of July, our oldest granddaughter, Zoe, wanted to have a 4th of July parade. Erin led the parade, playing one note over and over on a plastic recorder, Zoe worked for hours to decorate her bike, and Grandma Betsy carried the newest addion, Aidan. One of the dogs marched, too. Grandpa and Mommy took pictures and served as the parade spectators; Daddy is a fireman and had to work.

They marched out to the gate and back. The procession got a little ragged at times.

Looks like they had a good time, and that's the important part! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We had the nephews and their kids over on the Fourth. No parades, but lots of fireworks. They had a good time and their kids want to know if they're coming back next year.

We happened to be in a real small town last year and I took my kids to see the parade. It never occured to me that they hadn't ever seen one before. When I grew up there was a parade for Memorial Day, the 4th, the firemans convention, Halloween, Christmas and few others -- but the modern suburbs just don't do it. They had such a good time.

When the antique tractor club came along my daughter asked "what are all those tractors doing in the middle of the parade?" That's today's youth for ya.

Your Grandkids are lucky to have such fun Grandparents and I'm sure Mom and Dad appreciate it too.

As the father of small kids (10 mos and 2 years) I can tell you that any help around the house with the kids is greatly appreciated and welcomed. However, I'm still trying to figure out how to stop them from getting older than 3-4 years old. I wouldn't trade this experience for anything.
