And some of the full timers are lighting off the fires too. There was a big case a few years ago in CA about a man starting the fires. I think he turned out to be a famous arson investigator or some such.
Seems like every year we have a firefighter or two caught torching things some where in the state. Given how dangerous it is just to run to the fire much less fight it these people should know better.
We lost a volunteer firefighter a few months back running, to of all things, a snake bite call. He lost control and wrecked in truck. I think a deer caused the accident.
