Due to divorce and lack of need at new home, I had to depart with The Mighty TC 18 today. Purchased in July of 1999. Used a 5' Woods rear finish mower, 4' Woods brush mower, 5' Woods back blade, King Kutter rear scoop and 5' rake. Mowed 2.5 acres of lawn, 5.5 acres of field, cleared top soil for the south end of my barn, removed snow during Michigan winters, etc., etc., etc., and never gave a fuss! Zero problems in the time that I owned it...which is to be expected with a fine piece of machinery. In the early days of this website, I used to post a lot...I was the voice for New Holland when most of the other guys were talking Kubota . Had some fun conversations too.

Just wanted to share my pain with the rest of you. Maybe someday, I'll own another New Holland ! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

That's a shame. Glad you had some fun with your TC18 while you had it, and I hope you can enjoy the feeling again.

Been a long time since we heard from you, Jim. I'm very sorry to hear about the divorce. Hope everything turns out for the best.

Jim, back when I first became a member of TBN, you and the Mighty TC18 were almost a legend, synonymous with what could be done with even the smallest tractor. The word "can't" wasn't in your vocabulary. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif You could tell that all the green and orange guys knew you were a blue force to be reckoned with. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I know how you loved that tractor and what it was able to do for you. I'm sure sorry you had to give it up. I hope this little setback is short and you will soon find your way back to the country and doin' the kind of stuff you want to do. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Does the person who got the Mighty TC18 know how lucky they are? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

OR PERHAPS YOU WILL SWITCH COLOR /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Bird,
Thanks! I check out the site every once in a while but it takes so much more time than it did back when it started...extremely popular! My very soon to be ex even felt for me when they hauled it away. Everything is amicable between us...why do it any other way.
Good to hear from you.

Cliff,
I hope I can enjoy the feeling again too! Maybe when I retire in about 9 years or so!

Jim,

I sold it back to the dealer that I purchased it from, he made me what I thought was a great offer. So, whoever buys it won't know that they bought "The Mighty Blue TC 18" . The dealer is Bates Tractor & Equipment in Coldwater, MI (about 35 miles from me) where most of my family lives...I'll have to keep my eyes out for it whenever I go down there. I know some of its markings, so I'll be able to recognize it...and also by that deep purr of the engine! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks for the kind words,
Jim

Frank,

Change...yes, it is a constant. BUT, JimBinMI on the seat of anything but BLUE , at least in a diesel...that would be unheard of and I'd probably get kicked out of "Club Blue". Unless, of course, I was just test driving it for someone to let them know what they're missing in not going Blue!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bird,
Remember the conversations that we used to have on the board about HP per acre?
Mine was 18.5 HP/8.04 acres = 2.3 HP/acre
I figured it out for my new home if I would have kept the TC 18 (in a residential neighborhood) 18.5 HP/.28 acres = 66 HP/acre.
I would have warmed up the tractor for longer than I would have used it! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
Just thought I'd share that info.
Jim
