Mowing a silly question

I acquired a L100 lawn tractor. It hadn't run in years. I finally got her running and feel I at least should replace the belts. However the belt that runs from the transmission to under the motor seems strong enough to at least pull it from my shop but she doesn't budge. I've never owned a Deere much less this model and am not certain the operating protocols one bit. Might I ask you kind folks to tell me the steps to engage the drive belt and such. look in the back end of the Machine and see a rod coming out the back end,below back of seat.pull rod out it disengages the transmission,push it in and engages transmission.this is the way my l130 is.

No Sir my model does not have that! If someone could tell me how to tighten the drive belt to the transmission, that's all I would need. Mines L 100.....

I Google this Model and came up with a manual,check it out.

Again,,,,,,, the machine rolls, the parking brake is not set, I only need to know how to tighten the tension on the transmission drive belt!!! Thanks, Mike

....I don't see were that shows how to tighten tensioner.

Only guessing , but is there an tensioner pulley, that requires a spring?

This seems to infer that setting the parking brake takes tension of the idler/tensioner pulleys, releasing the parking brake then lets the spring tension the pulleys onto the drive belt.

I have a JD G100. Check the tensioner pulley system. Many times after the mower sits for extended periods the springs and slides on this pulley sort of "lock up" and will not provide the needed tension. The tension for the main drive belt is thru this tensioner pulley - this entire tensioning system must move freely for the springs to provide adequate tension to the pulley and so the pulley will pull on the drive belt. Without this the belt slips on the drive pulley and also slips on the system driving the blades.

Cleaning any build-up of "gunk" and some spray lube could have it running again.

Another point - I've had the drive belt "jump off" the main drive pulley - check that the drive belt follows the correct path around and thru all the pulleys.

I have never seen any HST transmission that doesn't have that neutral lock out for the rear end. Either your tractor is a gear drive or you are overlooking the transmission unlock mechanism. Look closer for one, it could just be a spring type that your raise and lock into a notch. Unless you have a clutch on it, you WILL have this neutral lock out, they are on every HST lawn tractor.
