I buy a fair amount on ebay.

I'm getting sick and tired of getting messages from them to the effect:
When rating sellers, We BEG that PLEASE DO NOT leave us 1, 2, 3 or 4-star Detailed Seller Ratings or any negative/neutral feedback because they mean "you are NOT satisfied", equaling negative feedback.

Well I'm NOT satisfied when they try to manipulate my rating.

That earns them one star less automatically.

Does thsi happen to you other TBN buyers?

I've had one or two ask me to rate them and I had to expend some effort to figure out how. After that I don't remember rating more than a few.

As a seller I was always quick to rate a buyer and nothing aggravates one more that a buyer that doesn't reciprocate. I finally quit rating a buyer until after they rated me and sent them a message letting them know that right up front. Your ratings matter a bunch on ebay and when you're involved in a transaction you should promptly provide one whether asked to or not.

I have sold a lot on ebay, not having some one rate you is frustrating, but getting lower ratings is a nightmare. I was very worried after the usps destroyed a package on me, but I worked out a refund, and insurance covered most of the product,but i was in a loss for the sale but I kept my stars.
To a lot of people its a business rating and ebay being the biggest name in the game, stars matter :)

IIRC, Ebay dings them (they show up further down in the search ratings and might have to pay more) if they don't get 5 star ratings from their buyers.

I have no problem rating a seller. If I get what was ordered timely they get top rating. I have had sellers stating the item was in stock online and when you place the order it is back ordered two months. That does not get a good rating and I usually cancel the order and state why in the review.

The worst case I had was the order was placed and my card charged. Then I get an email two days later stating the item is back ordered. That prompted a complaint to ebay.

I've purchased over 600 items and have never given below a four star and giving a four star is infrequent. The only couple of bad transactions I had were cleared up quickly by the seller. I will give a fair rating on the newer star rating system when it comes to how quickly I receive the item but I also try not to buy items shipped from outside the US.

This is bassakwards. As a buyer I have completed my obligation when I submit payment and should receive positive feedback as soon as possible from the seller. On the other hand I reserve the right to receive and inspect my purchase before leaving feedback for the seller. I absolutely NEVER leave feedback for a seller that hasn't left feedback after payment unless the product or delivery does not meet the advertised expectations in which case I will neg you.

When I receive an item that is as advertised and the seller has left my positive feedback for immediate payment I ALWAYS leave positive feedback for the seller as soon as possible. Bonus comments for good communication and questions answered if any.
