Tractor
Kubota B2620 with a Kuboat
Well, I broke out the cash yesterday on a used B7100HSD with a B1630C loader attached to it and 1173 hrs on the clock. The condition of the tractor is normal for the amount of time (20 years old). The bucket and cutting edge is in very good condition. It started right up the first try and all lights, flashers and headlights worked. The dealer had a dirt pile out back; he pointed to it, and said come on back in to my office when you're done. I was out there for an hour in my dress cloths and dress shoes (since I went straight there after work). :D

It worked well! The only couple of issues that came up.
1. The foot petal moving forward did not return to center very quick so I gave you a feeling of coasting when I let off it.
2. The loader did not go into float but it would stick in when curling the bucket up (I think someone messed up the lever somehow)

Both items the dealer said he would have fixed prior top delivery. We will see.

I would like thank all those people current and past for there comments on this forum. With out your posts I would have no idea what I was looking at. Thanks!

Congratulations, they are a great little mule.
I had the pedal problem too. My dealer was incapable of fixing it. The good folks here ointed me right to the problem area. I little tightening of a bolt and the the pedal was working pretty good.
Hours are generally written on the filters when they are replaced. Check to see if the hydraulics are due for fluid and filter replacement. The Kubota site has details on the maintenance intervals.

I saw the dealer had changed the engine oil because I saw the oil filter with 4/8/08 on it. But now that I think about it they did not specially say they changed the Hydraulic filter. It will be something I check when it gets delivered. I also had some luck as the previous owners Kept the owners manual for the tractor and the loader, as well a maintenance poster that has a check list in intervals of 'before use' 25-50-75-100-150-200 hours, and every 3 months to a year.

I knew someone here would know how to deal with the foot petal issue.

Thanks

Well Poo! (This statement has been corrected for PG13 audiences)

The dealer called and the detent on the valve is not working, and they need to order a new one. BUT it will take a week to get here (why is that, everyone is a Week away from getting anything). So the tractor will not be delivered until next week something.

I guess I will spend my time looking for accessories for it.

The problem with my hydro control was at the input shaft to the transmission. (On the right side of the tranny below the hydraulic filter.) The input shaft was sloppy in the clamp from the pedal assembly. Even if the pedal centered the clamp would allow the input shaft to lag due to the excess play. Once I tightened the clamp it worked much better.

I don't know just how many years Kubota made those models, but that's the same model tractor and front end loader that I bought new in the summer of 1995. Of course, I think the tractor model started in 1980; don't know about the loader model. They're nice little machines.

Interesting you said that!!!
Because went to buy the tractor, the salesman new the history of them because he had been selling them for 20 years. He said that they made the B7100 for a few years ( I think he said 1977-1984) and then stopped and replaced it with the B1700 series. But nurseries, homeowners and others pleaded to bring that tractor back. Well Kubota responded with a short run (I don稚 remember what years) of the B7100 and said to the dealers once there are gone, they are gone. He said there dealership only bought 30 of them and he said he could have sold triple that amount, easily.

Or it could have been a dealer filling my head with BS to get me to buy.

Your salesman probably wasn't far off with that story. My salesman also told me about the same story; that the B7100 was one of their most popular models, Kubota quit making it for awhile, but had so many complaints from the dealers they started making them again.

Incidentally, I bought mine new in 1995 and traded it back to the same salesman on a new B2710 in 1999. The last time I saw that salesman in 2002, he said he had sold my B7100 four times.:D First to me and I traded it back to him to get the B2710 with a little more power and power steering, second to an equipment rental place and then they traded it back in on a new tractor with power steering, then to another couple who also traded it back in on one with power steering, and he said he had just sold it again to a young lady who was buying it as a gift for her husband. He said it was still in great condition and the lack of power steering kept people coming back to trade up.:D

I think the lack of power steering was its major drawback. As I said, I also wanted a little more power, and I wanted a quick attach front end loader. But that little B7100 with its front end loader, a Bush Hog Squealer 4' rotary cutter, and a Bush Hog RTS40 tiller sure got a lot of my chores done.

Just be sure you have a firm grip on the steering wheel if you hit a rut or hole, especially if you have a load in the front end loader, so it doesn't spin around and break a thumb. Mine never hurt me, but when it was fairly new, it did startle me when the wheel suddenly turned.
