Hi, I'm wondering what RPM you guys run your machines at?

My machine is a 2005, A300 with 2-speed, turbo, and high-flow hydraulics.

On the road I generally run around 2300, and working around with the bucket or forks etc. I most often am at about 1700rpm.

Should I run in low range, but with higher rpm?

What about running an auger? I have a 15c and have drilled holes up to 14' deep using my high lift auger mount. I find that I want the bit to spin slowly, but I do need high engine rpm to keep up the torque. Is there a better way to run it?

Thanks,

Most Bobcat equipment is designed to run between 2/3 and 3/4 throttle in most applications; moving dirt, using pallet forks, etc.

For road travel, I would say run full throttle so you can get your peak travel speed, especially for 2-speed travel.

As far as your augering holes, if you are consistantly digging deep you would have better success by jumping to a Bobcat Model 30C auger. It is designed for a slower turning speed and higher torque for standard hydraulic flow.
Here is a link to Bobcat's website talking about the auger attachments.

I hope this helps you.
