I had to run my AC on full throttle, for the first time. I was running rear pto @ 2000 rpm, in full sun, 82 degrees. She kept me comfortable but the fuel gage was constantly on the move, down!

I've never seen an air conditioner do anything different!

I can live with the big fuel consumption. Two long days of spraying would have been a drag on an open station machine.

Well.... we've been in the 90's everyday and I don't have a cab!!

Are you running the cab on outside air or recirculating the air? Recirculate will reduce the cooling load, reducing the compressor on-time. Or provide a lower inside temp, reducing the amount of heat the AC system has to carry away from the cab, hence reducing the load on the compressor. I believe these have a cycling clutch system,so the compressor runs as needed, then freewheels, until a cycle is needed at all. Engine speed should only affect how long the compressor runs per cycle, not how much work is required. Please excuse the rambling on. Good Day.

I run it in the recycle position, every hour or so i bring in a little fresh air then go back to recycle. Fuel consumption increases around 20% with the AC on.

Howdy,
If you are running at high RPM just for the A/C to work right you may want to check and see if the freon is a little low. My B3030HSDC cools good at 1500 RPM or less, but after 15 minutes it will freeze you out of the cab even on really disgusting days. It cools enough for condensate to form heavy on the glass on the outside of the cab :)

If a 30HP tractor consumes about 1 gallon per hour at RPM(sounds reasonable,eh?),then a 20% increase would mean .2 gal/hr for air conditioning. An eight hour day would be an extra 1.6 gallons used,@ #3.00/gal would mean $4.80 per full day to use the AC. Sounds worth it to me!

Fuel is a concern to most all by way of operating expense. But once I reach a certain point of investment for utilization and comfort, fuel comsumption is not an issue to me. Glad to hear your AC is serving you well. Makes me want to move up to a cab model.

I have a B7500 and was wondering how the B3030 would compare. I know it would be more, but have never seen or heard how much more.
You can spec them out on Kubota's web site. Money wise, I'm thinking about US$3000.

I almost bought the 3030 open model, but the additional gadgets weren't appealing to me. Now that I would consider an enclosed model, I'd do it in a heartbeat, had I have not just bought this 7800. They are the same tractors other than options and the different hood design.
