Also get a TICK KEY, it goes on your key chain and can take off any size tick.

Hope your dog comes out ok. My guys run thru the woods and fields here, I have several acres fenced. I shoot any coon I find around here, they are a real pest.

Sounds a lot better than the original diagnosis. I have had dogs test positive for Lyme and do quite well just by treating with antibiotics.

What he said.
My dog was diagnosed with Lyme's shortly after I got him... They caught it early while doing the heartworm test and he never showed a symptom.

Good luck, hope that your pup has a full recovery. It sounds like you have a good vet.

Halo has had an amazing recovery so far. In fact she was feeling much better the day after I brought her home from the vet. We're supposed to be keeping her quiet but I've pretty much given up on that. We'll continue the medicine until it's gone. I'll post if she has a relapse.

ACIP=Tick Paralysis, Not new issue, bad severe, but with supportive therapy, generally recover. Similar syndrome, same organism occurs in human. No true treatment, just supportive care. This has been evident in all my 40 years Vet Med., predates Lyme Disease, and most other ricketsial diseases, difficult diagnosis, but arrived to, just support, and tincture of time generally suffice. For SE Us this not new issue.

This patient may have/be positive for Lyme Disease, or any other of the tick borne diseases. My point ACIP ain't new, and may occur concurrently with other tick born diseases. My first case ACIP late 70's misdiagnosed twice (me) w/n 1 week before arrived @ accurate diagnosis. The diagnosis of prevelance of antibodies to said parasite today easy, but still the prevalence of presence of disease entity not.
