I have a Kubota L1500 and I just traded my 4' Bush Hog for a 4' Finish Mower, and I kept my pto shaft but....My bush Hog had a smooth shaft with a shear pin, and my finish mower has standard spines.....i went to tractor supply to see if they had a adapter and they don't.....Any Suggestions?

Didn't the finish mower come with a PTO shaft? Seems like that should be part of the machine.
I would think who ever got your brush hog would hve wanted the PTO shaft with it.

Best I recall is that the gear boxes have different shafts according to whether a shear bolt is used as opposed to a slip clutch or in this case belt drive. My Land Pride has splines on the gear box with belt drive to the blades. The brush hog was direct drive to the blade which needed shear protection.

Zebrafive....the guy i got the finish mower from did not have a pto shaft, so i told him i was going to keep mine, thinking that they would interchange, and also a new shaft is 130.00 plus bucks....

wcampbell47....your right....and what I'm looking for is....an adapter or do i need to buy a new yoke end that will connect to my splines on my finish mower?

Is the smooth hole in the end of the yoke that went to the brush hog 1 3/8" in dia? If it is, you could purchase a PTO extender and slide the male end into the shaft and either drill a hole aligned with the shear pin hole or weld it in. The female end can connect to the spline on the RFM. If the hole in the yoke of the shaft is not 1 3/8" this would not work.
I would buy the correct shaft or a new yoke for your shaft.

Pto shafts are all different, different ends.

I would priced in the cost of a new shaft and left the pto with your old mower, both of you would be happy, now neither of you has anything that works.

You can get a new 1/2 yoke and remove the 2 endcaps on a joint - little fussy not to loose any needle bearings as you swap, or you can buy a new shaft with the proper ends.

An adaptor is not a normal way to do this, you will change the geomitry of the driveline. Your shaft will need to be shortened, and the adaptor would stick out, creating stress from the unsupported length and steeper angles with the shorter shaft. I don't think you will have good results with this path.

Pto shafts are fitted to, and come with an implement. There are many different end styles, including built-in ratchet or slip clutches. Something to consider in the future, always get the original pto shaft or discount the purchase price a fair amount.
