I have a Cub Lo-Boy Model 154 with a hydraulic mower deck lift that is in excellent condition. I also have a donor machine with a hydraulic deck lift and a 3-point hitch. The hydraulic system is very simple. The cylinders are all single-acting and there are no SCV's. The parts diagram for the machine with just the deck lift actually shows a T in the system that is capped on one side. The T is also called out as not used on machienes with the 3-point hitch. The donor machine actually has a selector or divertor that allows you to divert the flow from deck lift to 3-point, while using the same lever to control both. My plan is to bolt on the 3-point, install the selector (which I beleive repalces the T), and hook up the hydraulics to the 3-point. It should be pretty simple, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to re-use the flared hydraulic lines. Also, should I apply any type of thread sealant to the fittings? This is going to be my first attmept at hydraulic work, so feel free to clue me in. If it doesn't work out, I'll just put everything back together and scrap the donor machine. Afterall, I've got my 4320 for back-up.
