OK,
Bought a poly 17cu ft cart this weekend. The thing can haul an amazing amount of material but if the material isn't perfectly free flowing (ie water only) it doesn't empty at all.
I had a thought, what about chopping the tail of the cart off to be flat like a metal cart, however I would reattach the tail section with pivots at the top like a clamshell or 4in1 bucket. You could then back up to your dump spot, swing the tail up and over and then dump the entire contents. There are loader buckets that do something similar, kind of like a dredge bucket of sorts.
Any thoughts? The plastic is pretty thick so I think it could withstand the weight on it with a few latches, otherwise you could build a u shaped support tube to go on each side of the cut? I don't care if material leaks out of the joint, I just want to be able to dump fully. Only other choice is bigger wheels or back it up onto ramps. I actually thought about pulling it up over car ramps, dumping then lifting it off of them. I am moving thick heavy clay and need the tail section to be perfectly vertical.
