I bought a 3184 and thought all 3000 series Cub's had the differential lock. Then of course I found out that it is only on the 3200. I thought they had the same rear ends. Anyways is there any way to add this to a 3100 mower?

Evan, I have never heard of anyone attempting to do so. I am not really sure it would be worth it, if anything I'd look for a used transmission with diff lock in it already. OR...you could just a fleet of 3000 series Cub Cadets, I found a nice one in Southern WI that seems like a good deal: Baraboo Power Equipment - Used Mowers

Vince is right, that would be a huge task.
There are other machines besides the 3200 that have the diff lock. 3240, 3225, and 3235. All the older versions of the 3200. 3240 is the Anniversary edition.

You might be able to buy a trannie and swap, but you also need all the linkage, pedal, brackets, etc, and cut a hole in your floor pan. Might be cheaper off going bigger, get it built in, more HP, and bigger tires.

If we were closer, I'd offer you my 3235 for $1800. It needs a few things, but has the diff lock, big tires and diff lock. I also have 3 decks to choose from, 48,54, and 60". I buy and sell Cubs as a hobby, but leaving next week for 6 weeks overseas. (work)

I also wonder what the loader will cost? I'm assuming around 3K? For the cost of a loader and your tractor, you could be real close to getting a sub-compact. I'm selling a Cub 5254 25 HP gas 4X4 with loader for ~6K. It also has the mounting kit for a mower.

I'm not trying to sell you anything here, just show the cost difference. If you shop around enough around your area, you'll come up with a great deal on a sub-compact, or 3000 series with the diff lock.

Good luck!

Man I wish these parts interchanged a little more. The loader cost $1900.

The think I like about this setup is you can put a post hole digger, snow blade, and a set of forks on this ground hog system. Plus there prices are where they should be not $3000 and up like others sell theres for.

Right now I only have $500 in mine plus what ever I buy for a loader. I figure with my 3 point blade, loader, forks, and snow blade I will be in for about $4,000 total. Not to mention this will fit on any 3000 series which are a dime a dozen and don't cost anything anymore. If my 3184 goes out I can just pick up another 3000 Cub.

I think to help with the traction issue I will put a set of AG tires on and if that is not enough I will put dual AG tires on the back.

Right now I just have wheel weights and chains on the stock tires.

I wish I could see more pictures of that loader on their website (I cannot get the thumbnail pics to work). Any idea of how it mounts on the back? My guess is that its bolted to the pegs for running boards but not sure. I think Scout may be on to something with the sub-compact idea as the 3000 series may be a little light to take on some of the chores that many operators think a loader tractor can do...of course I've been wrong before, just ask my wife. If you do decide to add the loader I hope that it all works out for you and provides many years of service. Let us know how it goes, good luck.

There is a mount that goes under the frame and attaches through the floor board I think. Really I am going to use it for is putting fire wood in the back of my truck. It can left 500 pounds, so that should be enough. It has to be better than loading it by hand all the time:)

I will also use it to move snow into piles after I plow when we get a lot of snow. Currently I have to plow my driveway and then take a snow blower and blow it out future if we get more then 10 inches or so.
