Added another JD to the Garage

Just picked up a 1993 JD 855 with 630 hours as a little project. Not in need of total restoration but was not maintained to the caliber I would have. Call me nuts but I find it fun to open the hood and see the wiring someone else did, or find bailing twine holding a hose up or conecting a throttle cable then tear it all apart and fix it the way it should have been with original JD parts. I am sure I will be posting alot of quetions but I feel that I am saving a great machine from a bad and almost guaranteed shortened life.

O.K. We need pictures of before and after. And of course the usual question: what did it cost. Seriously, I love to see what people are repairing

I paid $3200 with 60"MMM and Ag tires. I dropped it off at my JD dealer and they went thru it and changed the oils. It started a little hard at first but it was the 4 year old diesel and filers the didn't help. It still blows a lot of balck smoke on startup but the dealer said with it being a pre-emmisions tractor and air warmer instead of glows it will smoke a little more than a 655 or 755. They also put it on the dyno and it was right at at 19 HP. They said that was right on since the dyno is designed to run 150-500 hp tractors. I will be posting as many before and afters as I can. Some of the barn repairs are very funny.. lots of bailing twine...

Wow that is a pretty good deal if it is 4X4. I also fixed a lot of little things on my 855 so it will be interesting to see and compare with what you are working on!

Well I got a little ahead of myself and already tore down the 855 and forgot to take pictures!!! I will grab some as its going back together.
