I've been wanting to add mirrors to the sides of my canopy so that I could see the outside of the tires. I've been doing allot of driveway grading here lately thinking I could do a better job only if I had a set of mirrors attched to the side of the canopy. While I was thinking about how I wanted to fab the brackets. I had a brain fart about making them so I could take them off the outside of the canopy and put them on the inside of the canopy and use them for rearview mirror. I only have pictures of the mounted on the outside of the canopy. I still have to take them back off and paint them. But the pictures will give you a idea of what I'm trying to accoumplish.

By the way...the brackets will allow me to extend the mirrors out another foot or so and rotate them up or down if I run out of mirror adjustment.

The pictures are dial-up friendly...

Great idea. Would the mount be a half of a large modified hinge?

No, I made the mounts from scrap flat stock and pipe that I had in the shop. The only thing I bought was the mirrors. I drilled a hole in each pipe and welded a nut to it and then welded the pipe to the flat stock. Drilled holes in the flat stock and the front of the canopy and bolted them up. If you look real close at the mount, you'll see a hole drilled in the middle of the mount. I'd like to mount some snow plow lights in each of those holes (light on each corner). I have a set of those cheap 35w round lights that you can get at the dealer. But I decided to go with the snow plow lights just like the ones you got on your tractor. In the back view picture, you can see the lights that I'm talking about. Those lights are coming off as well. They just dont put out that much light (like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for").

I know exactly where you are coming from. I started with a set of lights from Harbor Freight, I should have just threw the money into the wind because they turned out to be worthless.

I had the good luck to find mirrors that work perfect locally at a place called Trader Horn. For $3 each, no less! I bought four of five of them...it was a great deal.

Anyway, I put mine inside, under my "head protector" so that I could minimize the "knock off" affect...:D

Here's a shot:
