Everyone's been so helpful in this forum; so here is my question:

I just purchased a used TN65 with a 32LA FEL, joystick control. There are two existing remotes in the rear that are used by the loader. I asked the salesman if I wanted to hookup a disk harrow with hydraulics, do I disconnect one of the remotes to the loader and connect to the harrow (or any other attachment)? Yes, was his answer; so I tried to disconnect the quick-tach hose but it wouldn't budge...he said the pressure must be relieved by resting the loader. If this is true, what happens to the loader, does it remain in place? Do I have to lower the loader onto a block to keep it off the ground? If I can remove the hose and hook it up to the attachment, does the joystick become my control for the attachment??

What does an additional remote cost and how difficult (or easy) is it to install?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Read Jinmans thread of Attaching/reattaching FEL . It is about the 16LA, but it tells the similar steps. When the loader is first disconnected, it may move an inch or so but it is stable. When relieving the pressure, the engine must be off.

Thanks, Markie61...very helpful. However, I don't want to remove the loader, I just want to disconnect the line(s) from the loader and reconnect to an attachment.

I just re-read your question and it sounds like you want to keep the loader on but use one of the remotes. I would imagine the disconnected control (probably the curl) would hold in place provided that the system doesnt have any leaks. Don't know for sure - never tried it.

The quick-attach loader is SO easy to remove, it would probably be just as well to get it out of your way when harrowing.

I did just that for the fist year till I added the third remote. Unhook the bucket curl line so you can still raise the loader. You must let the pressure off the line first, if not you will get covered in hot oil if you manage to get the coupler apart.

Just shut off the tractor once you have the disc hooked up to the drawbar. Lower the loader and work the joystick all directions to make sure all the pressure is out. Then disconnect the hose and hook the disc up. You can tell which line is the bucket curl by looking at the joystick. There is a green and blue symbols for bucket curl and loader up/down. I think the bucket curl is the green symbols and at the back the remotes should have a blue and green covers. If it is the green one then remove the hoses from the remote with the green covers.

Or you can just spend the couple hundred dollars and have the third remote added in and not have this problem. If you are using a disc you will most likely have the same problem I did. When discing I find stones from time to time and I would toss them in the bucket. However with no bucket curl the bucket would slowly keep dumping and I would have to unload the rocks before they ended up in the field again. See if your dealer will install the remote for you as a favor since you just bought the tractor from him so all it cost you is parts. Or if you want there was a nice turtorial on here about adding a third remote on a TN by one of the TN owners here (I am sorry but I don't remember which one /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif) Good luck.

The fact he is planning on using it on rough ground would put a lot of stress on the cylinders from all the bouncing. This will slowly let the bucket uncurl each time it bounces.

Thank you, Robert, for the information. I should have had the dealer install the 3rd remote while it was being prepped for shipment. Guess I'll have to make arrangements for the 3rd remote in Pa.

Anyway, here's a photo of the 2 remotes for the bucket and loader.

Thanks again everyone...CL

My bucket has loosened some over the years with heavy loader use so I have a lot of play in the pins /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. Of course, loading the bucket with rocks and rolling across a tilled field at 6 mph isn't the best thing for a loader anyway /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
