I was at my Mahindra dealer getting some parts when I mentioned the cost of upgrading my mower, I have the standard duty 6ft because my wooded area of my property has a lot of wood buried and I've sheared 1/2 dozen pins. A person in the shop, which I figured worked there, because the guy behind the counter agreed with him, told me to just get a Weasler slip clutch from tractor supply (smooth shaft) and add it to the shaft at the mower connection where the shear pin is. Problem is this, there is a ring that normally holds the shaft on if the pin shears. I take that ring out, slip off the shaft, but can quite get the clutch on. It will almost go on, but it looks like a ridge from the slot where that ring is, keeps it from going on smoothly, and I don't want to force it. If if reverse it just to see if it is the right size, the shaft from the PTO fits fine.
So my questions are....

Anyone else try this and have a problem? and/or

Should I machine the opening on the clutch just a hair to make it fit?

When I talked to my regular salesperson, he said no one at the dealership would have recommended this setup. Well I have a witness, I'm not crazy.
