The tool box location on my M8540 is inconvenient to say the least. It sits behind the loader bracket on the driver's side. I would like to relocate it to the rear or better yet add another one. I need storage for tools, pins and at least one chain. I have a cab and I would like the stuff stored outboard. I have been contemplating between the fender and cab on the axle or removing the SMV sign and fabbing something up there. I have seen some blaze orange waterproof boxes at bass pro and thought maybe one of those or an ammo box painted orange if course.

Please give me some ideas and pictures.
Thanks

i mounted mine on the top step on the right side. a good size tool box will fit there. measure the height to the bottom of the door so that it will still open. painted it kubota gray.

That sounds like a good option I will definitely add that to my list.

I use a tool bag. The shoulder straps allow it to be hung many different ways and places on my M7040. Currently it is attached to the two hinges on the ROP. So it hangs behind the seat.

My M7040 doesn't have a cab but the tool bag idea should give you something to think about.

I put plugs in my loader holes and cab holes and i can put 40' of chain and a bunch of tools and pins in the two shorter ones.

That's an excellent idea. Keeps the wasps out too. I will be buying some as soon as I get back to Texas and the tractor. It sure is cold in Pennsylvania!

I apologize for resurrecting an old thread but what are those plugs - where would I be able to get some?

I have a different loader (M25 - available in Canada) and I'm at the airport heading out on a business trip - so I don't know if my loader has holes or not, but if it does, they sure seem like a convenient location for chains and such things.

I think a toolbox painted Kubota gray on the top step on the right seems like a good idea to me. If anyone has a picture of that and how you have it mounted, I'd sure appreciate it.

The ones I used are conduit/electrical test plugs. I got them at a local plumbing supply store.

I found the pictures of the tool box I made and mounted on my L4240.
