Recently got a Backhoe attachment for my Ford 1300. It is a Bush Hog 760. The Ford is currently out fitted with a FEL and would appreciate direction on how best to tap into the hydraulics. The Backhoe came with QC's so I would prefer to continue using that for easy connect/disconnect. I am pretty new to hydraulics other than rebuilding the ones a boat some years back.

So two main questions
1. Are QC's standard sizes or is every manufacturer different. The backhoe was attach to a John Deer Tractor.

2. What is the best way to tap into my existing tractor hydraulics and where.

I have attached some pictures of my current setup. IMG_0126.JPGIMG_0127.JPGIMG_0129.JPGIMG_0130.JPG

Thanks for any help.

It appears that your valve has 6 hoses attached.

If you have been using that valve for a long time with no problems, here is what I suggest.

You are probably coming from the pump into the the loader valve and from the loader valve a hose goes back to the 3pt.

Use same type QD's as on your BH

What I would recommend is to remove the OUT hose at the 3pt INPUT and install a male QD.

Install a female QD on the IN hose for the BH.

Install a male QD on the BH OUT hose and plug that into a female QD in the 3pt IN port.

So now, the flow is from the pump, loader, BH, 3pt, tank.

If you remove the BH, connect the loader out hose with male QD into the female QD at the 3pt.

Thanks for the response J_J. Just to clarify the hydraulic chamber has two lines leaving it. One going to the loader in and the second with the return feed from loader. The 3pt and pump seem to be internalized to the hydraulic chamber with no external connections.

I have think I understand the what you are suggesting and made a couple of diagrams being a visual person. Thanks

You might check your hyd system like this.

Disconnect the loader hose at the side of the tractor, and place in a bucket.

Start the tractor for a few minutes and let the flow go in the bucket, and also work the 3pt and see if it works.

If it does work, that means that the 3pt is getting flow before the loader valve.

If the 3pt does not work, that means that it needs the flow from the loader valve.

If the 3pt is the source of the flow, just plug the BH into that pressure port that the loader is plugged in to.

Anybody know of QD's are one or two way. I added two QD's to my existing setup on the return flow and now my FEL wont go down. Backhoe is not in line yet.

Thanks

A QD on the return line/hose unconnected will block flow.

A return path must be open to tank at all times.

A QD unconnected in the flow path will also block and cause the relief valve to go off, and damage things.
