Does anyone have any experience with adding a block heater on the TC45DA/Case DX45? I'd like to add one but I wasn't able to find much from anyone that has done this on theirs. Is there a particular heater that is better than others? I read where some people were complaining about the ears on the NH heater for some of the smaller tractors. Any suggestions on which part to buy and any tips/tricks on the installation are greatly appreciated!

While it is the "off season". Glad to see somebody who wants quick winter starts without wearing out the starter and battery. With less engine wear than a cold startup. And without damaging an engine with ether. Zerostart-Temro Engine Block Heaters | Phillips & Temro Industries

Thanks for the reply. I checked out the website but wasn't able to find much about which part I needed or any installation tips. I am trying to address this long before I might need it.

I've no experience with your model, but... I like "lower radiator hose heaters" and " freeze plug" heaters.

The lower radiator hose heaters can be purchased at the FLAPS based on hose diameter. The freeze plug heaters work best if located near the head intake, but Watts are Watts.

A half hour at 600 Watts puts a lot of warmth into an engine.
Id you need to run in the morning with temps of -20, leave it plugged in over night.

I have a 40hp New Holland and had a friend install an OEM freeze plug heater. He drilled a small hole, popped it out with a screwdriver and installed the heater. Not in the easiest place top get to, but not terrible. There is a horror story on TBN about someone who was installing a freeze plug heater, and drilled through the block! That is the down side of freeze plug heaters.

Back in the day, I had a lower radiator hose heater on a car, and it worked fine - easy to install. For some reason, they don't seem to list tractors for applications.

I gave my son my New Holland TC21D, and bought him a "stick on" silicone heater. You just clean the oil pan, and it sticks on with some sort of super 3M tape.

I installed an old block heater on my tc40, and a year later on my neighbors smaller tc. The trick I use is to use a 2" self tapping screw, just when the threads grab STOP! Leave the screw in and then hit the edges of the plug with a flat screwdriver. When the plug turns sideways the self tapper keeps the plug from falling into the block! Little soap on the o-ring install to the instructions and tighten- Done!
