Hey all,

Looking into adding cab and A/C/Heat to sub-40hp tractors. There are plenty of factory cab models under 40hp, but few have air. The Mahindra, LS, and Kubota do, but Kioti, Branson, and TYM don't. If Mahindra and the others can do it, and if you can get A/C on a Polaris Ranger or RTV, it can be done on a tractor. Anyone ever taken on this challenge?

Thanks in advance!

The technology is there and is pretty simple, the real issue is in making everything fit properly. Kind of reminds me of the add on ac for cars 50+ years ago Mark IV comes to mind, the difference is tractors have less room to work with. Low production numbers drive up the costs too. I have dealt with Hammond when installing ac in my 110tlb and can tell you it was a tight fit.

take this for what it is worth,

I have a 91 S10 with four banger engine in it, it has AC, but unless your running at high way speeds the AC is really hard on the engine nearly killing it at an idle, and when in town in stop and go type traffic not really the best idea to use it,

on small engines the added heat and power requirements, may not be the best.

Many times the radiators are not large enough to work with the added heat of AC off the condenser,

Most designs do not have much if any extra for over normal conditions, (Ac would be over normal)

depending on where your at and the normal humidity, one could consider an evaporator cooler, on the roof of the cab, usually very low amp draw and no compressor, they still make some RV and truck sleeper units,

I have used Bycools for nearly 30 years, (they no longer building there in the US), no there not AC but there a lot better than nothing, they will cool 100f down to 80 or so, depending on the humidity,
I have a evaporator cooler on my combine and one of my tractors, but they would be the simplest, IMO.

the way the by cool works is there is a round evaporator pad, that is slowly rotated in a shallow reservoir of water, and a fan that pull air through and in to the cab, the reservoir will keep the evaporator pad wet for about 12 hrs of use in 100 degree heat,
