My question is I have a Kawasaki Mule 610, I added a 4 hydraulic plow to the front of it from a John Deere 400 series tractor. I've removed the cylinders and am using a winch to raise and lower the plow and moving it side to side by hand. Any ideas on how I can add a hydraulic system to the mule. I've been looking into 12v hydraulic power packs, but don't know much about them. What are the electrical requirements, would switching to a full size car battery be required. Looking for input. Any help is apreciated. Thanks

Is there a place to belt a hyd pump to the engine?
I have similar questions about the hyd. power packs so will look for responses to your question.

Have a pic to post of the plow on the mule?

I would think as long as you can find a place to hook on crankshaft by pulley or love joy style connector you could.
Maybe a power steering unit from a pickup, ran by belt.
Did you check out down the main index list for atv, utv? Some one there may have done it. Under Related Equipment.
Next thought would be check with the vendors that advertise here, they have 800 numbers and probably know what the best option would be.

I will post up pics of the plow on the mule. I haven't asked in the atv/utv section yet, figured I'd try the hydraulic section first. I'm not sure of the availablility of a shaft for a pto style pickup. I've concerned running a pony motor in the bed of the mule which would turn a powersteering pump.

Take picture of engine compartment also.

You could use one of those hyd power packs from a boat, the hyd unit used to raise and lower the out board motor, very small unit. I am using one on a home made road grader to raise and lower the wheels.

A power pack would be the easiest. Space would be tight trying to drive a pump off the engine. Many power packs will pull over 120 amps, so, a larger automotive battery would be needed. I've seen mule 2500's with the power pack mounted to the plow frame.

I would go with a haldex or similar unit. I would definitely put a larger or 2nd battery in to deal with the amp draw. You can then build whatever controller type you want to. I did this on a friends polaris rzr. He wanted to use a V plow on it. I don't have pics but it did work well. Took about 7 hours to build and plumb.
