Agri-Power 5000
Hi,

my first post in this great forum. Came accross the Hydraulics forum a few weeks ago and have just been eating it up since then. Some great knowledge here!

I came accross a great deal on an 84 Agri-Power 5000 and I have been very happy with it so far (still learning the ropes though). It has an aftermarket FEL. The only hydraulic takeoffs are in the back, so what they did when they added the FEL was put a 2 spool valve on the right fender and took the hydraulics from the back.
Now i am really missing the hydraulics in the back as I want to add a hydraulic top link (have been playing with the box blade lately and thats no fun without the hydraulic top link ;-) ).
The exisiting valve does not have a power beyond port.

So, here is my idea and I would love to hear from you guys whether I am even on the right track.
The local fleetfarm has a great deal on a Cross SBA22 2 spool valve with power beyond.
- I would mount it on the left fender (loader valve is on the right), then disconnect the IN and OUT from the existing loader valve.
- Connect the old IN to the new SBA22 IN port.
- T off the old OUT hose and connect to the OUT port on the new SBA22 and the olde loader valve.
- Connect a new line from the power beyond port on the SBA22 to the IN port on the old loader valve.

Now if i got this all correct, i should have two extra hydraulic ports. I would run one directly from the SBA22 to the hydraulic top link (permanant installation) and then i was thinking i would do some kind of quick release connection on a mounting bracket in the back, for the second new line. Not sure what i will use it for, but i am sure more things will come up over time ;-)

What do you guys think? sound like a doable plan or am I way off?

You are mostly right, except you said you would use the new valve for the FEL .

Does your Cross valve have float. T-N-T cyl work good with float..

You should have PB from the remote to the 3pt. The reason is that the tank ports are usually have a limit of about 500 psi back pressure, and you might just develop 2500 psi using the 3pt which will back up into the remote valve and cause some damage.

Hi J.J.

thanks for the quick reply.
The valve I am looking at does not have float. From what i read so far, its a convenience feature and not needed to have good setup for a BB, right?

Now to the PB on the exisiting valve (assuming thats what you meant). When i started reading i also assumed there would be PB on the exisiting valve already and i could just daisy chain my new valve. But no ;-( When i looked on the tractor, there is just two lines coming in (running from the back to th valve on top of the fender) and 4 lines going to the loader. no extra line for PB or even a port on that valve. Am I missing something?

Thanks.

Some have argued that you can use the tank for whatever, but most manufacturers state that the tank port should go to tank for the reason I mentioned.

You can daisy chain or add in series all the valves you want, but they all should have a PB port to pass the pump fluid downstream.

Some people have used the tank port to pass fluid on to the next valve and had no problem, but the potential is always there.

The last valve is the series path does not need a PB, however in a tractor, the 3pt valve is usually the last valve in the hyd system.
