I have a MF35 UTILITY serial number UGF655000527.

This tractor does not have a PTO. When changing the trans/hydro/diff fluid and looking in through the LEFT SIDE ROUND COVER there are two shafts visible, the one on top is obviously to drive for the rear axle, but what is the one underneath it? The shaft under the main drive shaft appears to line up with the blank cover over what would be the PTO.

Is it possible that with a few parts from a doner tractor I could add a PTO to my tractor??? Has anyone done this? How do I know if I have a two stage clutch?

I am tempted to try starting the tractor and slowly releasing the clutch to see if the lower shaft spins prior to the rear tires but, I am not sure if I should try this with no fluid in the trans/hydro/diff housing?

Any Ideas???

I went to this site Object moved and started looking but there are so many options that you should probably go there yourself and figure it out.

Then you need the complete PTO shaft and coupler, should be easy to find a donor MF35 to pick parts from. The PTO goes into the outgoing shaft from the oil pump .

It should be a letter code in the serial number if you have two stage, if the three point hydraulic works with out moving the tractor you have it.

The 3 point can work when the tractor isn't moving but the shuttle shift has to be in forward or reverse and the clutch has to be out (shifter and high low can be in neutral).

Most likely you don't have two stage, but the usefulness and resale value will be much higher with a pto.

Well, I think the first step in this project is going to be finding a doner tractor from a tractor junk yard. I am located in Rockford IL, does anyone know of any tractor junk yards near here? I did a google search but didn't find much.

Do you think I'll have to split the tractor to do this?
