JD 4400
Hello members,
I have a JD 4400 CUT. I would like to add some additional lights and an auxiliary outlet on the rear for a sprayer. Where can I find a hot lead powered by the ignition switch. I would add and auxiliary fuse box powered though a fuse by a relay that would be powered by the switched hot lead. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance for the responses

Likely you will find it to the left side at the rear of the seat (base of the ROPS). That is where I found it on my 4300. Wires folded over the connector, and I think strapped.

Is hot when the tractor light switch is in the full clockwise position (work lights).

I did just this last week. Worked like a top! Powering two LED lights, 3rd function and room for one more circuit before I reach the fuse/relay limit. Good luck with your install!

What is that limit?

I’m no expert here but I believe you need some reserve for potential spikes. 10% is what I read on one website. Because you’ll need a fuse between your relay and battery, that will likely be your limit. I run a 30 and I’m told can get up to 40. Anything after 40 amps of draw will require some other device which I didn’t get to researching. I also assumed that anything after 40 would be encroaching on the limits of my alternator. Again, not calculated, just something I’m trying to be mindful of. So I’m summary, a 40 amp relay and fuse should be good for roughly 35amps of draw. Keep in mind you’ll have to evaluate how many would be in use at the same time here’s my train of thought. Could be way wrong but I think I’m good.

I have two LEDS running tied to a 10amp fuse.
Third function tied to another 10amp fuse.
I’m hoping for a rear snowblower at some point with electrical rotation drawing 10-15amps.

Combined total of 35 amps. HOWEVER, I would never be articulating the third function and operating an electrical chute rotation at the same time.

I’ll see if I can find the post where others helped me. Maybe it would help you too.

I've added three LED work lights to my ROPS and have some great lighting for night time work.
This first snow plow run video shows the difference early in the video (0:50) when I switched them off to just the front lights that are hiding behind the mesh guard.

Lights fit nicely on the ROPS, 2 facing forward and one to the rear. No problem with the load so far.

Looks great. Your lights appear small enough to not cause you an issue. I have an LED bar that supposedly uses a lot of juice I haven’t measured it but reduced the fuse down from 15 to 10 and haven’t popped it yet. Seems to be a margin of error for the manufacturer.
