I have a Land Pride SGC0548 grapple on my BX25D. It works great for picking things up that are perpendicular to the grapple, but if you need to pick something up, like a smaller log, and want to pick up the end, you need something like this. I have a pine grove that has a lot of dead falls. The live trees are far enough apart that I can drive the BX25 between them, but I need to pick the dead falls up by the end so I can then "skid" them out backwards.
So I added a couple of pieces of 1" angle iron to the grapple teeth. I ground notches in the teeth where the "j-Bolts" go so they would not slip out. I used 5/16" J-bolts and cut them to length after I put a lock nut in place. I think I can use this same technique to make some bolt on forks for the grapple.
