adding sun shade to 66\' international cub
I do most of my pasture mowing with my NH 1920.. it has the luxory of a dealer installed shade on the rops. However it is a bit big to do the mowing near the house and barn, and on the easement between my property and the neighbor, and also the right of way area in front of my property. For this I've been using my 66 int. cub. Mows great, better than a rifing lawnmower.. which is nice considering it is only a 14hp engine.. etc.
It is in nearly mint 99% original condition, with no welding, torchings, extra holes, etc. Sheet metal is also in 99.9% original condition.
Since I'm doing a few hours of mowing on it a week now, I am going to add a buggy style canopy from TSC.. I've added one to my yanmar 1700 with great results, and to my wifes horse drawn buggy.
The cub is a bit narower than the last two projects.. so the standard bracket kit for the buggy top won't work without modification.
I was rather unwilling to add any holes or welds to my tractor, and have been investigating other brackets and attatchment points using existing holes/bolt/studs to mount it.
At one point I even considered using the umbrella style top mounted to the drawbar... would work.. but I really dont like the look of it.. and it won't fold down as nice as the buggy top for pulling it into the little storage lean-to I built.
I think I've come up with a mounting scheme that uses the mounts for the bench seat, without modifying -any- original component, and is 100% removable with a standard screwdriver.
The mount itself will be made with some surplus 3" flat stock, and some leftover bracket parts from one of the other buggy kits.
I'll take before and after shots, as I may do it tomorrow about 5pm after I get off work, assuming I can get the parts torched and welded on my lunch break at work, so they will be just drop in and installable when I get home.
There is a TSC 5 minutes from my work, and the buggy top is a 10 minute put-together at most... so baring disaster or weather.. by 6 or 6:30 I'll have some before/after pics to post.
Wish me luck!
