Was reading the latest copy of the heavy equipment tracder, and gave pause to two adds.

1) 1990 yanmar 336 power steering, power stroke deisel
Guess we are getting newer huh?

2) Eicher tractors .. Who makes / imports these? Are they grey market? Reason I ask, as there is a delaer offering them in packages with a mower and cheapy 16' trailer for the same price as a jinma.. by itself... that's way way way cheap... for instance.. the 28 hp jinma 284? one place had for 6999.. this place had an eicher 28 hp... 16' tandem axle trailer.. howse box blade and mower.. for that price... I thought it was a misprint.. but then they had other packages there too that had similar prices to the jinmas.. but with package options.. etc.

whats the scoop on eicher?

I just Googled on Eicher tractor.

Apparently an Indian firm, a long time competitor to Mahindra. Their international page shows air cooled tractors 24 to 61 hp, water cooled 38 to 61 hp. I recognised Royal Enfield Motorcycles among the brands they own and noted EPA and ISO 9001 certification, so they are a world class operation.

Looks to me like Jinma has a new competitor.
