Adjusted valves on Briggs OHV-now it smokes

After a hard to start problem on my 14 HP Briggs OHV motor I followed advice and adjusted the valves. Now the motor spins easy,
starts right up and runs smooth. Set valves at .0006 for both intake and exhaust. Problem is now it smokes, didn't before.
What did I do wrong?

Wow and I thought .006 was close on Polaris specs.
