I've seen similar units around here (Twin Cities, MN) in not-so-good shape going for $500-$600 so if it's in good shape I think it's priced right. I think the bigger question is whether you'll be happy with a rear snowblower instead of a front mount.

We had the big rear-mount snowblowers out on the farm and while they could really move the snow they could give you a serious crick in the neck. I usually used the FEL on our larger tractor for snow removal and then moved snow-piles back with the rear snowblower.

I know the front mount units are significantly more (I've looked too).

Good luck!

I just purchased a 48" wide used rear blower for $500, so your price sounds like it is in the ballpark. I had been looking at new.... starting at a low (cash only) price of about $1200 (for a 48"), to a high of around $2200 for a nicer 54" blower. I would probably plan on running it without the wings. Sounds like a fair deal to me !

Update; I returned to the dealer to get the correct brand name off the machine, it is "snowmachines". I can't seem to find much on the web about these units exept for one reference to Allis Chalmers. Apparently these were possibly built for Allis???? It does look to be in good shape, and it 's been painted the right colors; jd green with yellow inside and yellow chute. It's labels read that it was built for compact tractors in the 12 to 36 hp range and it measures out to fit my imatch. I would only use it to clean out in front of my garage and make bucket piles disappear so my neck shouldn't get too stiff.

Yes yes I know, but since our planet is so screwed up it doesn't snow much around here anymore -one good storm a year- I don't think the cost of a front mount can be justified compared to the price of a bottle of Advil.

Megotractor-

Did you wind up buying this unit? I ask because I'm looking at a couple of 48 inch units (3-pt mount, rear PTO) for my 2305. I found some used in the $400-$750 range (asking price) that look solid but are several years old.

Having a hard time swallowing the $3K that Deere wants for a front-mount...

Forget the blower and opt for the 54 front blade and quick hitch. Doubles as a dozer blade and will be faster than a blower, and less expensive.

Faster than a blower for light snowfalls perhaps, but I have landscaping to work around and need to move the snow furhter away than the edge for the sidewalk or the edge of the driveway. Plus, we do get the occassional "dump" of snow that leaves 1-2 feet on my doorstep - blade is going to struggle with that.

Quick hitch, etc. for the 2305 isn't cheap either and would need to be purchased separately.
