I have an acquaintance who is selling his Kubota L2900 4wd tractor. The tractor is gear driven 8f 2r, has a sun canopy, a front end loader (dual hydraulic shaft), turf tires (rear tires filled with antifreeze and water), and has 297 hours. He is selling the tractor for $10,000. The tractor is well maintained and appears in excellent shape (the tractor is currently being dropped off at the Kubota dealer to have all the fluids and filters changed as well as a full inspection).
I am trying to determine if this is a good deal. My wife and I are building a house on 12 acres in Nothern Virginia. The land is all pasture land. I plan to work the field and eventually turn it into a good strand of grass. In the meantime, I plan to mow the 12 acres on a regular basis with a 6' rfm.
I realize I could finish the job a lot quicker with a larger tractor and a 7' rfm, my budget is limited to $14,000. If the tractor sounds like a good deal, I will also purchase a used 5' bush hog from the same gentleman @$500 and a new Bush Hog RDTH72 rear finish mower for $2,000. This brings me in at a total package price of $12,500.
I appreciate any advice/comments.
