Buying Advice Advice on L3130 purchase

Looking at a new L3130 with 723. Going to use it basicly for snow removal and log hauling on a 60 acre property that has a 300' gravel driveway that is fairly steep. Land goes 1300' front to back but rises 400'. Any suggestions on whether this is the right machine to do the job?... thx

The gradient you have on your property is almost 1 : 4 or 17o pitch. I'd be very wary of skidding logs with a tractor on those sorts of slopes. I don't know what the answer is but I think you need to look at other machines for the log work you have. Sounds as if you have some research to do.

Keep posting your progress. Sounds like you're going to have some fun reaching a decision.

Thanks for the advise.... moving snow and gravel is one thing but moving logs may be another at that steep grade.... I am pretty new at moving timber.....any suggestions on the log part? Thx

As I understand it, the L3130 can be dodgy at anything over 15 degrees and with a 17 degree pitch, I think you'd be struggling to do most anything across the gradient. Even gravel and snow might be a problem. It might be worthwhile asking your Kubota dealer to demo. the tractor on your property before you make a commitment so you can see for yourself how much use you'd be able to make of it.

INVERESK is absolutley correct, @ 15 degrees side tilt, you will be looking for a way to get out of there quick on a L-3130 with LA723...especially even more so if the FEL is loaded or you are skidding logs. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
