LB1914
I'm close to buying a Kioti LB1914. I'm going to be digging footings for a cabin on posts, and digging a long 3-ft deep trench for a septic line. What can I expect this machine to do on stumps and roots? I can't afford a large backhoe, but I don't mind working my way around larger stumps. Have people been happy with this hoe?

That tractor takes the KB2365. I have one and am pretty satisfied with it. If you check my pictures, you'll see me digging up some stumps with it. The attachment is of a BIG pine stump with a very long tap root that took me a long time to dig out. The above ground part was nearly 3 feet across, then below ground it got about 5 feet across. If you're digging oaks and other trees without tap roots, it will be much faster. Pines and other tap-rooted trees can take hours to dig out.
The only thing that bothers me about this hoe is the way the bracing on the subframe loosens up. You have to retighten the bolts about every 10 hours or so. Not a big deal, just irks me some. John

John

Have you tried putting a jam nut on some of the BH sub frame bolts. We have done this in the past and it has been pretty successful.

John,
We conqured that problem.
We use red locktite and we and locknuts.
I have also welded the support arms.

Thanks. If you're able to dig up pines that are 3 ft at the butt, I should be fine with 8-inch spruces and maples. If I get final clearance from "the Boss" --my wife--I'm going ahead with the LB1914 plus hoe and loader. Wish me luck and thanks again.

Ya we hated to weld anything in case you wanted to use this BH on a different tractor down the road. The jam nuts have always worked for us. You do want to check them from time to time as you do with your loader bolts. I would opt for the locktite before any welding though.

I welded mine to stop it from loosening, but I consentrated most of the welds where I can get at them with a grinder if I would ever want to use the backhoe on a differant machine..

Jon, Wallace, Vince, thanks for the suggestions. I'd thought of all of the above, but just haven't bothered. I just tighten them up once in a while, and good to go. I am considering welding the upper bolts though. If I buy a new tractor, it's going to need a larger Backhoe than the 2365! Thanks

MAINEIAC, I think you'll be happy with the LB1914. Good luck! John
