Buying Advice Advice on rock bucket for brush / dig up cactus

I am a novice and I am looking into a tractor for small brush clearing and removing prickly pear cactus. I thought a rock bucket would be ideal for this type of work, is that right? I also would like to get a small rock bucket rather than a large one, is anyone using a 4 foot rock bucket with L-series tractors? Is there anything special to look for in a rock bucket?

I know they weigh more, and I was told a larger tractor would be required, but is that true if I will only be using the rock bucket to remove prickly pear cactus and small brush (not hauling large rocks)?

I was looking into the L2800 and L3200 with a 4 5 foot rock bucket, do you think that sounds right for that type of work? Can you use a rock bucket with the B-series tractors?

I am of no help on your choice of tractor, but mechanical removal of prickly pear may be futile. Burning and/or chemical control seem to be effective -- eventually.

Living in Western Maryland mountains, I'm certainly no expert in cactus removal but I sure can talk about multiflora rose and greenbriar. I bought a device called a Ratchet rake. Ratchet Rake, LLC - Tractor attachment, Bucket attachment, Loader, Skid loader, Kubota, Skid steer, Landscape rake, Brush remover, York Rake, Harley Rake, Rock Rake, Tractor rake attachment, Construction attachment, New Holland, Bobcat, Fire safety, . I use it on a L2250 Kubota and it works great. Check out the videos on Google or the Ratchet rake website. It is an easy on/off unit that straps to the bucket and has a lot of uses beyond clearing brush. Today I used it to groove and break up ice on the lane. I also does a good job of leveling ground and leaving grooves for planting. The videos tell it all, cost, $300. Good luck.
