Hey folks,
I've done my research and I feel like the RZT 50 with the 22 Kaw is a fair budget choice for 2.5 flat acres.

I've located one from a single guy operated residential lawn business. He seems like a good guy and has upgraded to a 66" Exmark. The unit is serviced, 200 hours 2 years old and he is asking $1500. Is this a fair price for a straight unit?

He said I can mow it, run it, do whatever to it before I buy. He sounds up front and honest.

I will ask him when he last greased the spindles and then ask him to show me where they are (hopefully he doesn't have to scratch his head before he locates them).

Is there anything else you guys would recommend I pay attention to or look for? Thanks in advance, have a good day.

I'd run it for several hours to get it good and hot and then see how it does on a uphill. There have been several posts about one or both transmissions getting tired around the number of hours you said it has. If it growls or one side doesn't pull as strong as the other then I'd be a little worried. The transmissions cost around $700 each. The engine shouldn't have any problems as long as it's been serviced regular.

I'm with ya in regards to wanting to test out the trans, but I know I wouldn't have the patience for someone wanting a several hour test drive for a ~$1500 sale.

My neighbor has the same unit, and though it works fine, and the cut is excellent, I think it is a bit small for the acreage you describe. I think a ZForce is a bit better match.

Thanks all. i've decided to pass on it. There is a Swisher 60" and a Bad Boy 60" with the 26 Kaw down the street for $4000/each. 30 hours on each roughly, Its tempting to grab the BB and screw the budget. Thanks everyone for the input, impulse purchase avoided!
