simply use granular A, it is best as far as materiel goes for a driveway it has good compaction, easy to work with safe for tires and to walk on.
it is important to fix the road before adding gravel like many have pointed out. the reason is, if there is wash board or pot holes it doesn’t matter how much gravel you add on top of the road existing profile will get translated back to the surface, you need to cut the material down to the base of the wash board or pot hole then create the correct crown then add gravel …. like on hwy construct as a example if there is a pot hole and you add 1ft of gravel evenly on on the road, grade it to the right profile (-3% from the center line so it settle at -2%) compact it and put asphalt on top the pot hole is back to surface within a year.
