2 Kubotas; One at business, one at home,(both for PLAYing) L3830 HST w/ 723FEL and BX23
Well, I think I have made my last tractor purchases for a while. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I traded in my Case DX-33 & my Kubota F3060 front mount mower for a Kubota BX23 & Kubota L3830. The BX23 will be used for grass cutting(~3 acres) and snow removal on my 75' driveway and obviously some backhoe work. The F3060 front mower is a great cutting machine but not very versatile and I heard the BXs are great mowers. The Kubota L3830 with the 723FEL and 72" HD bucket will spend it's winters at my business(in an unheated garage but with an engine heater) being the snow removal machine for the parking lot. My question, at last, is what size rear blades do most of you have for these machines? The rear blades are primarily for snow removal. The dealer recommended the Landpride RB05 60" blade for the BX23 and the Landpride RB25 84" for the L3830. I heard the rear blade for the BX series has little room for error on sizing. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I am a die hard cub fan and so my wife has taken pitty on me - therefore I had to act quickly before she forgets how sad I was one week ago. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif This purchase will definitely help my spirits /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Thanks, Jerry

Congratulations on your new pruchases...... This purchase might pick up your spirits, but it will sure make a dent in your bank account!!!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If you enjoy your BX 23 as much as I enjoy my BX 22, you will definitely have a smile on your face...... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif I believe that your BX 23 purchase is the first on to be recorded on TBN.... When will it be arriving.... I haven't seen even a picture of them yet..... one of Kubota's best kept secrets..... Post a picture when they arrive......

I would recommend the RB3584 for a L3830. It is a much heavier duty blade.

I have a Woods RBC 60 5' rear blade for my BX 2200 and it seems to work pretty good. Haven't used it much, though since I got it in mid March of this year and we had no real signifacant snow after that. From my recollection I think this is what most of the other folks with this size tractor are using (size wise, I mean) as well.

Good luck, you should have a ball with these rigs! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Junkman and others,
Thanks for the input. Don't know for sure when the BX23 will be arriving. Should have an answer next week. My dealer doesn't carry the Woods Blades, only the Landpride. I hope the RB05 60" is compatible with the Woods blade for the BX. My dealer quoted me $850 for the Landpride RB35 84" and $575 for the RB25 84". This sounds high to me. What do you guys think?
Thanks Again, Jerry

The prices are not bad. Here is a site that has list and discount price.

I don't know if you have checked the specifications of the different Land Pride model rear blades.
Here is a link to them. Click Here

The sizes you mention are about the right widths. The other part that I like to tell is to buy heavy! A blade will only pull so much before it lifts and dumps, snow is not so critical as dirt and your use seem so be more for snow but in dirt you would notice the difference quickly. I would use those sizes here in NY for snow if I was using that system. If I had less snow I might be trying for a wider blade if it was convienient but the weight is critical

It is my first coming winter w/ my L3830 and I am
going to try just bucket and rear blade this winter.....
had five foot rear blower on the last tractor.....blowing has it/s place and is sometimes necesary but for 95 percent of
snow removal....I believe the rear blade is the way to go....I bought an RB22-84 midwest blade from corriher......very well built, nice quality and inexpensive(including shipping). The neat feature is you can adjust your offset w/o wrenches...just pull two pins and slide your blade left or rigth.....nice feature for cutting ditches.....overall the heavier duty models(heavier and taller moldboard) may work a little better but for overall use, great price..etc..the rb22-84 is what I will try this winter...

I have the sub frame on mine for the snow blower but took the blower off and attached a 71/2' Fisher power angle plow by means of of buying another quick attach bracket and welding it to the plow. Now all that I have to do is disconnect 2 hoses, 1 linch pin and back away from the blade and hook onto blower. I could probably put the FEL on with the sub frame still there and use it but I would have to be careful. My driveway is 800' and gravel so I want it to freeze good before using the blower. Also I made up a 600# weight for the 3ph. This will be my first winter using it so hope all goes well.

Thanks all for the help.
Anyone know how well the Midwest RB40 rear blade compares to the Landpride RB35 in quality, features, and price? Does anyone have a Midwest RB40 rear blade?
Thanks, Jerry
