What are your recommendations, and why, for after market bucket teeth for the small 425 bucket?

I wish I had the aftermarket teeth as comparted to the PT teeth....attaching individual teeth is a pain and I would imagine a teeth bar would have more stability. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

1. Aftermarket teeth are MUCH more agressive, and will cut through clay and hard-packed soil much better. They'll also cut through small roots better.

2. Aftermarket bars actually reinforce the cutting edge, not weaken it due to a bunch of holes.

3. Aftermarket bars can be removed or attached with only two bolts, which are NOT in wear spots, so their threads don't get damaged nearly as easily.

4. The teeth on aftermarket bars are hardened tool steel, and should wear much longer.

5. Aftermarket bars have individually replaceable teeth, should you ever need to replace just one -- negating any advantage the individual factory teeth might have.

6. In "Fourteen fashion", aftermarket bars just look more wicked.... /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Can anyone recommend any specific brands? I need some for my 425 small bucket but don't know who makes good ones?

Without hesitation, I heartily endorse the Markham toothbar {HERE}.

Allen Markham builds a great product, sells it for a reasonable price, and provides excellent support with prompt shipping. Believe me, I've looked around at a number of manufacturers. All seem to be fine products, but either the cost is too high, shipping is too high, or the mfr only sells through tractor/ag dealer, which bumps the price yet again. You can find some other mfrs that I listed at a previous post on toothbars {HERE}

I have the Markham on my light materials bucket (LMB) and 4n1. I can't believe the change for the better in the LMB. The bar has strengthened the floor and sidewalls, and it's a real digger now. As has been said, the bar is removable with two bolts. However, I find that I am learning to back-drag with the bottom of the LMB so I don't feel the need to remove the toothbar to do that task.

Me thinks that a lot of PT owners and TBNers endorse the Markham. Just do a search of posts for 'Markham' over the last 6 months or so, and you'll be convinced.

Have a Happy New Year, and great tractoring in 2006

I have the Markham tooth bar on my 4 in 1 bucket for the PT422. It is well built and I have found it is great for cutting through roots to help pull up stumps. It does add to the weight and you can feel that since it is out on the far front of the bucket. I can remove the bar easily by unbolting it if the weight becomes an issue for some applications. I have only used it for root removal so far, so my experience is limited.
